Not even a year after retiring from the post, Sam Palmisano is now giving up the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, the highest governance body. His successor as Chairman will, as in CEO CEO Virginia Rometty.
Palmisano resigned from the Board of Directors on October 1, IBM said late Tuesday at its headquarters in Armonk, New York. He will remain with IBM as a consultant before retiring on December 1st. He had already handed over the chief post at the turn of the year.
The 61-year-old joined the Group in 2002 and has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2003. He is considered one of the most successful managers in the USA. Palmisano had transformed the computer manufacturer into a broad-based IT service provider, which even the economic crisis of 2009 could not harm. (Dpa / tc)spoods.de
