The former mobile phone market leader presented on Wednesday in New York his new smartphone flagship Lumia 920 with the upcoming Windows Phone 8 operating system from Microsoft. The device is intended to reduce the gap in sales to Samsung with its Android smartphones and Apple with its iPhone. With the Lumia 820 also gives a smaller device. Both Lumias can be wirelessly loaded via the Qi standard (optional on the 820) - and thanks to WP8, you can finally use the devices to take screenshots and share them.
"This is the most innovative smartphone in the world, " announced the responsible Nokia manager Jo Harlow at the presentation in New York. She particularly emphasized the card services as well as the built-in digital camera with Nokia's so-called pure-view technology. It was the best camera in a smartphone at all, she promised. "That's Lumia and it's time to change."
There is a reason why the event did not take place in Finland but in New York. In the USA, Nokia plays practically no role in the mobile business. If the Finns want to find the connection to the world leader in smartphone providers, they must be present in the huge market. The Americans are particularly open to technical innovations. Here the triumphal procession of smartphones began.
More detailed coverage of the Nokia announcement will follow tomorrow. (Dpa / tc)spoods.de
